Super-Charged Flapjacks

Bursting with flavour and jam-packed with fruit, nuts and seeds…these are no ordinary flapjacks.  These are far healthier than the average flapjack, making them a perfect post-exercise snack, a great on-the-go breakfast bar or simple afternoon pick-me-up treat!

This may look like a lot of ingredients, but these are really simple to make and definitely worthwhile!  Also don’t worry if you don’t have every ingredient, you can substitute for other nuts/seeds/fruit!

  1. 270 g oats* (we used a mixture of rolled and porridge oats, for different texture)
  2. 140 g sunflower margarine
  3. 90 g brown sugar
  4. 2 tbsp agave or golden syrup
  5. 2 tbsp flax seeds
  6. 1 tsp vanilla essence
  7. 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  8. 1/8 tsp nutmeg
  9. 1 tbsp pine nuts
  10. 1 tbsp linseeds
  11. 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  12. 1/4 cup dried apricots
  13. 1/4 cup dried cranberries
  14. 1/4 cup dried dates
  15. 1/4 cup pecans
  16. 1/4 cup cashews
  1. Preheat the oven to 180 C fan and grease a baking tray. In a large pan, melt the margarine and then stir in the sugar, syrup, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg until dissolved. Then mix in the oats, flax and all the nuts, fruit and seeds.
  2. Stir well, transfer to your greased tray and press down firmly with the back of a spoon. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes, until it is starting to go golden on top.
  1. * To ensure this is gluten-free, use certified gluten-free oats
